Celebrities such as Watanabe Ken-san , Oguri Shun-san, Suda Masaki-san, Nakano Taiga-san, Nikaido Fumi-san, Hashimoto Kanna-san and others have released a video in which they talk about the importance of a single vote in the upcoming House of Representatives election on October 31.
(T/n The video with English subtitles)
The 14 participants in the video are Akimoto Sayaka , Ando Tamae, Ishibashi Shizuka, Oguri Shun, Kom_I, Suda Masaki, Taka (ONE OK ROCK), Takito Kenichi, Nakano Taiga, Nikaido Fumi, Hashimoto Kanna, Maeno Tomoya, Rola, and Watanabe Ken.
The video, "Vote is Your Voice," begins with the words, "This is not an advertisement or a government broadcast, but a video made by us with our own will," and then each person talks about the importance of voting.
Kom_I "The voter turnout of our generation of young people is very very low"
Suda Masaki "Is it that low? It's Alarming but I'm apart of this generation too"
Hashimoto Kanna "We must show interest"
Nikaido Fumi "I think it also connects to taking care of yourself"
Oguri Shun "I believe that the vote is the first step we can take"
At the end of the video, celebrities declare that they will vote, and the video concludes with the words, "Your vote is your voice"
This video was created as an independent project by citizens, not affiliated with any political party or company. The goal was to encourage Japanese citizens who have the right to vote, especially those in their 20s and 30s who have a low voting rate, to vote
The persons in charge of the VOICE PROJECT said, "The project started with a group of volunteers, including the founder, who wanted to do something about the low voter turnout in Japan. We thought that the most effective way to reach out to a large number of people was to send out a video with influential people such as actors and musicians.
And the "VOICE PROJECT Vote is Your Voice" Twitter page has already recorded more than 10,000 retweets, with comments such as "I'm going too". The person in charge of the project commented, "We hope that the spread of this project will help make Japanese society more open and easy to live in"
[+11,452, -970] I thought that was nice.
The right way to use their influence. And that it feels like a good idea. Both as an entertainer and as a voter. Don't give up, don't make it someone else's problem, and use your power properly. Think and use it. We, too. I think it's about believing in yourself and taking care of yourself. If everyone does that, the world will change.
[+7,850, -576] Those with a high voter turnout are in their 60s and 70s. Naturally, candidates will come up with policies that will be supported by that generation, and the 20-somethings with a low voter turnout will be treated badly because they will be judged as having nothing to do with getting elected even if they increase their burden. If the younger generation wants politics that is good for them, they should go to vote. However, if the burden increases and they don't want anything in return from politics, they should skip the election.
[+5,665, -492] I think this activity is good. I think that when celebrities raise their voices, it can resonate with the consciousness of the younger generation in particular. The content of the video is not biased, and it talks about voting from a fair perspective.
It would be nice if voting was the norm, even if it's not.
One thing that I regret is that there are some people on Twitter and in the media who are using this video to lead the way in trying to discredit a particular party. The video is very fair and nice though.
[+2,381, -130] There are many people who say that their vote won't change anything, but I think it is important for influential people to take action because there is a possibility of change by voting.
If the voter turnout among young people increases, politicians will not be able to ignore the voices.
[+1906, -114] If young people don't go to the polls, bills that favor the voters (the elderly) will be passed, leaving a negative legacy for the youth in the future. This is still the trend, so I would like voters, including young people, to think about who to vote for for the good of Japan when they vote. Nowadays, it is easier to use advance voting.
[+1,766, -93] It's important to go to the polls, but it's also important to keep in mind that politics is directly related to our daily lives.
If we don't think about it, we tend to say, "I don't know much about it, so they will just choose someone who looks interesting.
If you decide to go, that's the first step, but the second step is to think about who's best for you.
