Toyokawa Etsushi and Nakamura Tomoya's Unconventional buddines in a Detective Drama ten by Sisonne Jiro
"No Activity", an Amazon Original drama series directed by Hanabusa Tsutomuand co-starring Toyokawa Etsushi and Nakamura Tomoya, and written by Jiro (Sisonne), will be available exclusively for Prime members from December 17th. Toyokawa and Nakamura, who play detectives, will be buddies. A key visual and a special report were released along with this
A comedic detective drama about the buddiness between Tokita Shingo, an ordinary detective who has given up on his career, and Shiina Asobu, a newbie detective with a good-natured personality, who get into trouble during a drug stakeout.
The released video shows Tokita and Shiina on a stakeout during a large-scale drug raid. A truck is loaded with suspicious packages, police vehicles weave between cars at breakneck speed, and Shiina enters with a gun in hand. Just when you think you're about to see something spectacular, Tokita is seen sounding his horn to break the tension and playing around. The video is full of tension, but the two of them are having a great time while distracting themselves from the criminal investigation, giving us a hint of the unpredictable developments to come.
The key visual that was also released depicts Tokita and Shiina getting into a police car with serious faces. With manga, horse racing newspapers, bags of sweets, and Rubik's cubes scattered about, it's hard to believe that this is the car of a highly disciplined police officer, but it's an attention-grabbing visual of an unconventional buddy that has never been seen before. "No Activity", an Amazon Original drama series directed by Hanabusa Tsutomu and co-starring Toyokawa Etsushi and Nakamura Tomoya, and written by Jiro (Sisonne), will be available exclusively for Prime members from December 17th. Toyokawa and Nakamura, who play detectives, will be buddies.
The main character of this story, Tokita Shingo, appears to be a talented detective, but in fact he is a lousy detective in the Metropolitan Police Department who has never been promoted. He is a no-good detective who does not show any motivation even in the field of investigation, and makes mysterious ramblings one after another to smoke people out, but for some reason, he is a character full of humanity that you cannot hate. The role of Tokita is played by Toyokawa Etsushi . Toyokawa Etsushi has won numerous film awards, including the Japan Academy Prize, and has built an unshakeable popularity through his appearances in the high rating serial dramas "Aishiteiru to Itte Kure" (1995) and "Aoi Tori" (1997). He has been active on the front lines for a long time in numerous movies, TV dramas, and commercials, including "My Brother, the Android, and I," which will be released next year.
Asobu Shiina, who will be buddying up with Tokita, is a unique rookie detective who changed careers from being a driving school instructor to a police officer. He is a good listener and has a good-natured side that even the veteran detective Tokita can't resist letting out his true feelings. Thanks to Shiina, Tokita's lovable uselessness is further accelerated. The role of Shiina is played by the popular actor, Nakamura Tomoya, who is known for his wide range of acting in many films, including the movie "Suiyoubi ga Kieta" (2020), the drama series "Kono Koi Atatemasu ka" (2020), and "Nagi no Oitoma" (2019). He is well known for his performance in the TV series "Hanbun, Aoi" (2018). Thetwo actors create an appealing, uneven relationship that will make a new mark in the history of detective dramas.
The film is directed by Hanabusa Tsutomuand, who directed the film "Heroine Shikkaku" (2015), the live-action film of the popular series "Kakegurui," and "Tokyo Revengers" (2021), which was a huge hit among young people. The screenplay for this film is written by Jiro, the winner of "King of Contrast 2014" who also wrote the screenplays for "Amai Osake de ugai" (20), "Dekke Furoba de mattemasu" (19), and the drama "Bijin ga Konkatsu Shite Mitara" (21). He is also a famous comedian from the comedy duo Sisonne.
Erica North, head of Amazon Studios Asia Pacific, commented
""No Activity" is an exciting and innovative detective drama. I'm honored to be able to bring this film to life with a cast that is both popular and talented, and a staff that is currently attracting the most attention. We hope you will enjoy the unique characters, their humorous interactions, and the unexpected story"
■ Toyokawa Etsushi's commnet
"The script by Jiro-san was very interesting and each line was very convincing. I really wanted to participate in this project because my partner is Nakamura Tomoya-san, and it seemed like a very fun project. I hope you enjoy the humorous dialogue between the characters."
■ Nakamura Tomoya's commnet
"I think it's a rare work in Japan, a detective drama with a one-situation setup and a story that proceeds only through helpless conversations. I thought it would be fun to do something like that with this work. Please enjoy the slightly unusual buddy feeling with Tokita as played by Toyokawa-san."
■ Hanabusa Tsutomu's commnet
"The script that Jiro struggled to write was wonderful and interesting. The actors' performances are also excellent, and I think this will be a detective drama unlike any other. Please look forward to it."
■ Jiro's commnet
"When I found out that I was going to be working with such an amazing cast, I was in awe of what I had gotten myself into.
I can't wait to see how the director has managed to create a conversational drama with characters who have strong so personalities."
[+1,004, -53] This is the first time in a long time that I wanted to watch a drama. I think I'll become a Prime member
[+826, -62] I've been waiting for a comedy with Nakamura Tomoya! And he's co-starring with Toyoetsu. I'm looking forward to December!
[+356, -52] The cast, the writer, the setting, this is one of the most exciting dramas I've seen in a while!
Personally, Prime only dramas have been a hit for me lately! (I'm currently addicted to Kuroki Haru's "ore no onechan")
[+169, -18] Great casting! And a script by Jiro Sissonne!
Amazon Prime is awesome! Nice!
[+151, -14] I'm curious about Jiro's script. I think I'll watch it
[+126, -11] Jiro, Toyoetsu, and Nakamura Ronya are a combination that interests me!
However, I'd like to see Jiro do more acting than writing. He's tall, so he looks good, and his acting skills are good enough to play both female and male roles. Hasegawa's eyes are too small, so it's a little tough for him (lol)
[+113 -9] The cast looks great, the story sounds good, I'm really looking forward to it!
It's only for Prime, isn't it?
I have a Prime and Hulu subscription, and I've moved away from terrestrial TV because I can watch interesting shows anytime, new ones are released one after another, and I don't have to make advance plans to watch them
