Kashiwagi Yuki , on rest, becomes first 30-year-old in AKB48 history to be selected. First independent single selection in 10 years, 18 members announced

The idol group AKB48's new regular program, "Nogizaka ni, Kosaremashita. ~AKB48, Iroiro Atte Teretou Kara Dai Gyakushuu! ~(Tuesdays at 1:35 a.m.) started on TV Tokyo late at night on the 6th. In the program, 18 members were announced for the 58th single "Nemohamo Rumor" (release  September 29), and Kashiwagi Yuki, who is currently on a break due to surgery and treatment for syringomyelia, was selected

Kashiwagi, who will celebrate her 30th birthday on the 15th of this month, has surpassed Kojima Haruna's (who graduated in April 2017) 28 years and 10 months to become the oldest ever selected. Even including the rare case of Shinoda Mariko in the 10th anniversary single "Kimi wa Melody" (released in March 2016), in which she participated at the age of 29 years and 11 months after graduating from the group in July 2013, Kashiwagi is the oldest member ever, and the first member in her 30s to be selected in AKB48's 16-year history.

In addition, Honda Hitomi (19), who was full-time in the Japanese/Korean 12-member girl group IZ*ONE for two and a half years from October 2018 to April 28 this year, was selected for the second time in two years and 10 months, since the release of their 54th album "NO WAY MAN" (November 2018).

The first four members to be selected are Taniguchi Megu (22), Chiba Erii (17), Nishikawa Rei (17), and Yokoyama Yui (18). This is also the first time in the history of AKB48 that two members with the same name, Yokoyama Yui (28) and Yokoyama Yui (both read as Yokoyama Yui), have been selected at the same time, although they are written in different kanji.

It's been a year and a half since AKB48 released their 57th CD single " Shitsuren, Arigatou" (released in March 2020), and while AKB48's single selections have included members of their sister groups, this is the first time in 10 years and 9 months since their 19th single "Chance no Junban" (released in December 2010) that AKB48 has had only AKB48 members.

Selected members of AKB48 58th single "Nemohamo Rumor":

Onishi Momoka (23), Okada Nana (23), Okabe Rin (24), Oguri Yui (19), Kashiwagi Yuki (29), Kubo Satone (17), Kuranoo Narumi (20), Shitao Miu (20), Taniguchi Megu (22) *First selection*, Chiba Erii (17) *First selection*, Nishikawa Rei (17) *First selection*, Honda Hitomi (19), Mukaichi Mion (23), Muto Tomu (26), Murayama Yuiri (24) Yamauchi Mizuki (19) Yokoyama Yui (28), Yokoyama Yui (28) *First selection*

[+641, -93] It's an AKB48 song, so it's only natural for AKB members to be selected to sing it. The members of the sister groups should do their best to be selected for their respective group.

[+400, -109] Now that they can't even perform in Kohaku, I hope they don't care about CD sales anymore. I don't care if they're bad at it, but I think they should stop lip-synching and start dancing something different than before.

How about creating something different from Sakamichi and Hello project?

[+301, -56] I guess one of the reasons why they picked AKB48 to be the only selection is that there are no longer any members in the sister groups who are good enough to pull people into the main group selection.

In the past, though, there used to be members with both ability and popularity, such as Matsui Jurina, Matsui Rena, Yamamoto Sayaka, Watanabe Miyuki, Sashihara Rino, and Miyawaki Sakura.

I think the only member whose name is known to the general public who is not a fan of AKB48 is Kashiwagi Yuki. That's how little name recognition and popularity the current AKB48 members have

[+230, -56] I feel sorry for the members for the loss of popularity. The removal of Akimoto from management, the poor handling of the NGT48 incident, the disappearance of variety shows such as Akbingo, the General Election, the Kohaku Uta Gassen, and the Request Hour were all that drove the interest of fans and the media away from the group. This is all due to poor management. However, the members were showing their good health at the theater little by little in the midst of the virus disaster. I wish the management would go back to the beginning and use their brains. If they do, I will support them again.

[+127, -47] Their popularity may have passed its peak, but there are still some talented members who are working hard. I think the right time will come again.

[+111, -39] In a way, it's a fresh start for AKB. I'm not a die-hard fan, but I want to support them. I can't just cut them off because AKB has healed me a lot so far. I'm looking forward to hearing the new songs

.

[+131, -25] Finally a member of the main group only. I never understood why they chose a few people for the projects and then all filled out with people from other groups.

The number of sales will be lower since they won't be relying on members from other groups, but since online is becoming more established, they will be able to use the money for that instead of spending it on transportation.
